Walnut Tall Dresser and Wardrobe, Part of a Rare Matched Set
The Walnut Exception in a Teak Collection
Most of the storage on this site arrives from Denmark in teak. A walnut tall dresser from an American workshop stands apart, and Kapel's output for Glenn of California accounts for a small share of what reaches the Berkeley floor.
Two companion pieces from the same line are listed alongside it, a low eight-drawer dresser and a pair of nightstands. Buying across the group gives a bedroom one wood and one hand throughout, which is difficult to achieve with separate acquisitions made months apart. Against the Danish teak dressers and gentleman's chests filling the rest of the collection, the walnut reads as a deliberate departure rather than a near match.
Mid Century Møbler imports European furniture from eight countries several times a year. American walnut enters that rotation far less predictably than Danish teak.

FAQs
How often does American walnut appear here?
Considerably less than Danish teak. Our buying trips cover Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany, England, Scotland, France, and Italy, so the collection skews European by design. American pieces reach us through estate sales and house clearances rather than containers, which makes their availability far harder to predict from one season to the next.
Which other Kapel pieces are available?
A low eight-drawer dresser and a pair of nightstands in the same walnut, both listed separately. The nightstands suit either side of a bed with this case on the facing wall, and the low dresser covers a second wall without repeating the height.
Would this work alongside teak?
It can, though the contrast is noticeable. Walnut reads darker and more variable than teak, which sits warmer and more uniform. Comparing the two in the Berkeley showroom settles the question faster than photographs will, and both woods are usually on the floor together.
