1960s VINTAGE BRAZILIAN ROSEWOOD CREDENZA
WHY BRAZILIAN ROSEWOOD IS PRIZED IN DANISH MODERN FURNITURE
Brazilian rosewood became a highly sought-after material in Danish Modern furniture because of its distinctive, streamlined designs. In a Brazilian rosewood credenza, key qualities include:
- Rich color: Deep brown and warm reddish tones create visual depth.
- Distinctive grain: Varied grain patterns can make each veneer panel look different, adding character to the overall design.
- Natural variation: Differences in color and figuring are part of vintage rosewood's appeal, not flaws.
- Period appeal: Rosewood was favored for refined mid-century European furniture, particularly pieces where craftsmanship and materials were central to the design.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Who designed and made this Brazilian rosewood credenza?
Johannes Andersen designed it, and Christian Linneberg produced it in Denmark during the 1960s.
How does the storage work?
The case has sliding doors across the front, giving generous storage while keeping a streamlined design.
Does Brazilian rosewood change color over time?
It can. Exposure to light may gradually affect the appearance of the wood and finish, sometimes causing lighter or darker areas to develop. Keeping the piece away from prolonged direct sunlight or other heat sources can help maintain more consistent coloration.
How can I tell if rosewood veneer is original?
Look for consistent aging and period-appropriate construction. Original hardware and maker markings can also provide useful clues, although professional assessment may be best for valuable pieces.
How long does shipping take?
After pickup from the showroom, West Coast deliveries take about 2-3 weeks and East Coast deliveries about 4-6 weeks. All shipping orders include a tracking number.
Can I see the piece in person?
Yes, you can view the credenza at the Berkeley, CA, showroom (1065 Ashby Ave) by appointment Wednesday to Friday, 11:30 am-3:30 pm, or on Saturdays 11 am- 4 pm for walk-ins.
