In 1951 Ray and Charles Eames created "The Toy" for Sears, Roebuck and Co. Various colored panels and dowels allowed children to construct playhouses, tents, and imaginative structures. A smaller scaled version was produced in 1952 and sold in a hexagonal tube. Source: 1
