Founded in Hillerød by Charles W. France and Eric Daverkosen as France & Daverkosen, and renamed France & Søn in 1957, the company was one of Denmark's largest makers of modern furniture. Built with industrial precision and exported worldwide, its catalog included lounge chairs, sofas and tables by Finn Juhl, Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen, Grete Jalk, Arne Vodder and Ole Wanscher.
