SHOP 1970s CHROME AND GLASS COFFEE TABLE
A 1970s coffee table with a polished chrome base and a glass top, reflecting the clean, industrial-glam lines popular in American design of the era. The mix of chrome and glass keeps the piece visually light, making it a good fit in front of a sofa or sectional in a mid-century or contemporary living room.
Create Contrast With Chrome and Glass
A chrome and glass coffee table brings reflective shine and visual openness to a room, especially with natural materials. Pair its polished surfaces with wood furniture, textured upholstery, leather, or woven accents to create contrast without making the space feel overly coordinated or visually heavy.
Pair a Glass Coffee Table With the Right Seating and Décor
Balance the streamlined profile of the chrome and glass coffee table with substantial upholstered seating or carefully chosen vintage accents. A mid-century modern sofa can provide a strong foundation, while rugs and wood finishes help connect the transparent tabletop and chrome frame to the wider room. Mid Century Møbler offers pieces that can create a collected interior where individual materials and forms complement rather than compete with one another.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can a glass coffee table work with wooden furniture?
Yes, glass and chrome can provide a useful visual counterpoint to the grain and warmth of wooden furniture, particularly teak or oak.
What type of rug works well beneath a glass coffee table?
Because the tabletop stays visually open, the rug underneath can add pattern and texture without being hidden by a solid table surface. A low-pile rug can complement the table's streamlined character, while a more textured option can introduce softness and contrast.
Should a coffee table match the rest of the living room?
A coffee table doesn't need to match every other piece of furniture; coordinating through shared shapes, materials, finishes, or proportions can create cohesion while still letting the table stand out.
How can I style a chrome coffee table without making the room feel too industrial?
Balance the reflective metal with softer and more organic elements throughout the room. These include upholstered seating, natural wood, wool rugs, ceramics, and warm-toned accessories that keep chrome from dominating the space.
